Oceanfront Public Access Restrictions and Closures
May 28-31 2019
The last sections of the wharf structures at the Oceanfront are in the process of being decommissioned, May 28-31 2019.
This work involves complex rigging and deconstruction of large old timbers, concrete blocks and steel framing. Safety of the workers and the public is of the utmost importance and therefore access to the most southern part of the Squamish Oceanfront, land and water, is closed to the public. A 300 foot perimeter from the workers and their equipment must be maintained and will be enforced by security on land and in the water. Kiters and windsurfers must pay particular attention to this perimeter.
To enable that the Oceanfront beach remain open for most of this process we are asking that all water sports enthusiasts abide by the current regulations. If at any time security feels that the safety of the crew or their machinery is compromised, this will result in temporarily closing public access to the beach.
ALL PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE OCEANFRONT WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY MAY 31, 2019.
The beach will reopen on Saturday June 1st.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes to all outdoor enthusiasts. Rest assured we are working diligently to get this work completed so that we can reopen the beach for everyone’s enjoyment.
